Perhaps some of you are interested in a Lotus Cortina with an interesting history that I’ve just spotted out here in Sweden. It was originally owned by Ove "påven" (the pope) Andersson, who raced Lotus Cortina’s back in the 60s and later was in charge of Toyota’s European motorsport team and, briefly, their F1 team . It’s not actually one of the cars he campaigned in - apparently Ford gave it to him to drive around in Sweden to promote the car and brand whilst he was racing for them – but then it is for this reason that it appears to be in very good condition. When he parted company with Ford, they were going to ship the car back to the UK but the cost was too high so they sold it to a friend of Ove’s, from whom the current owner bought it. Chassis number is 410 02 and it’s still RHD.
It’s currently up for sale, which is how I heard about it. If there’s any serious interest in the car in the UK I’ll encourage the owner to place an advert on the club’s website.
