Coopers makes/ private-labels Lotus' 907 air filter. Lotus P/N A907E6182Z
and Coopers P/N AG487 appear to come from the same tooling (right down to
the box)... because they do. Coopers' box is printed with orange markings
on a black field while Lotus is white stock with a small Lotus label.
There's a foam rubber gasket that slips onto the metal flange of the OEM
filter as well as the K&N 33-2784 direct fit filter. The gasket is
considered re-useable and is sold separately. Whenever you buy a
replacement filter, regardless of brand, it does not come with a new
gasket. You must transfer the existing gasket to the new filter when you
install it.
Be careful that you don't discard the gasket with the old filter. The new
filter will not fit or seal properly without it.

K&N's 33-2784 (16.75" x 5.375") is a direct fit in all Lotus 9XX 4
cylinder cars, naturally aspirated and turbo. It has the metal frame
around it like the original filter and looks so identical that it appears to
come from the same tooling as Coopers (who makes the OEM Lotus filter),
with the exception of the cloth filter media instead of paper.
P/N 33-2784 is one of K&N's European spec filters, and may not be as
readily available at USA dealers as others in their catalog (like 33-2011
discussed below). However, it can be special ordered through any K&N
dealer who is willing and cooperative. NAPA can get it in about 10 days.
It's worth the wait.
K&N 33-2011 (16.5" X 5.75") is cataloged by K&N for Jaguar and some
Esprit owners report using it. However, it has a thick plastic perimeter
rim/ frame instead of the OEM filter's steel frame with center crossmember
(as used on the 33-2784). 33-2011 is floppy by comparison and more
difficult to install properly. The thick rim doesn't fit well in the Lotus
airbox (which was designed for the thin metal rim with a thick rubber
gasket). It's rim is too thick to accept the re-useable rubber gasket,
and too thin to seal properly in the airbox without the gasket. 33-2011
also has corners that are more square (smaller radius) and which don't fit
the more rounded corners of the airbox. 33-2784 has the appropriate corner
radius and fits properly. If you must use 33-2011, cut a larger radius
on each corner.
K&N 33-2522 (16.75" x 5.312") Cross-references to Wix 46005 which, in
turn, is listed for the Lotus 9XX. I haven't seen either and can't
confirm how appropriate the fit is. I would suggest staying with what is
known to work... 33-2784
Buy 33-2784 !!
Treat 33-2011 as a poor substitute if you can't find 33-2784.
33-2522 is an unknown to me, but the dimensions suggest the fit will be
snug.
